Ha Noi and Quang Ninh play vital roles and strategic location in terms of economic development, national security and defense, foreign affairs in the cause of building and protecting the country. These important localities are defined as development pole in the key economic region of the North. In a spirit of “co-ordination for mutual development”, the achievements of the two localities have greatly contributed to general development of the northern region and the country.
One of highlights in cooperation between Quang Ninh and Ha Noiis transportation connection. To date, the operation of Ha Noi – Hai Phong – Ha Long – Van Don Highway is a vital key in completing the transport infrastructure, creating strong regional connection of Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. The highway is also essential to the linkage in the northern key economic triangle region.
Quang Ninh is hastening the construction progress of Van Don – Mong Cai Highway, which is expected to complete in 2020 to form a Ha Noi – Hai Phong – Ha Long – Van Don – Mong Cai Highway, connecting with Ha Noi - Lao Cai Highway to become the longest highway in Vietnam. This will be an important trade belt with China and the world.
Along with transport connection, Quang Ninh and Ha Noi have co-ordinated to share and update information on setting up and implementing regional and sub-regional plannings. For example, general socio-economic development plan for Red River Delta by 2020, general socio-economic development plan for key economic region in the North by 2020, target programs for connecting and developing economic triangle of Ha Noi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh.
Tourism sectors of Quang Ninh and Ha Noi along with Hai Phong signed and have effectively carried out the Tourism Coordinative Program in the period of 2016-2020, focusing on state management of tourism, supporting travelers, helping tourism businesses, study and create inter-regional products, connecting high-quality and competitive tours, etc…
In term of trade development, Quang Ninh and Ha Noi signed MOU with the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Son La, Vietnam Trade promotion Agency (under Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam) and Yunnan Trade Department (China) to effectively exploit the economic corridor Kunming – Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh
By promoting on available potential and advantages, Quang Ninh and Ha Noi will continue improving the efficiency in developing supportive industries.
