Quang Ninh Customs Department and Quang Yen town top 2021 DDCI
On Jan. 20, the Provincial People’s Committee officially announced the 2020 Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI).
According to the report announced at the conference, in the department category, the Customs Department topped the list with 78.48 points. Other departments in the top five include the Department of Planning and Investment, the Management Board of Economic Zones, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Tourism Department.
Among localities, Quang Yen town took the top spot with 79.83 points, followed by Dong Trieu town, Uong Bi city, Binh Lieu town, and Cam Pha city.
It is also reported that the median score of both groups in 2021 has been improved compared to 2020. Notably, the scoring gap between the units on the top and those at the bottom of the list is not as big as that in previous years; the component indexes tend to converge to higher levels.
The Quang Ninh DDCI 2021 polled nearly 2,000 businesses, cooperatives, and individual business households out of the total of 6,500, with over 12,500 questionnaires sent out. The response rate was 34.9 percent (the group of localities) and 36.2 percent (the group of businesses).
In 2021, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of Quang Ninh stil secured two-digit data despite the adverse impact of COVID-19.
Despite a range of negative impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on all socio-economic sectors, Quang Ninh province has been doing its utmost to thrive on such challenges and still become a favourable investment destination for foregn investors. The province's total non-budget investment attraction reached over VND 360 trillion in 2021. In which, FDI reached over US$1.1 billion, nearly 3 times higher than that in the same period last year.
The domestic budget revenue is over VND 42,000 billion, standing among the top performing localities nationwide.
Total social investment capital disbursed in 2021 was VND 93,938 billion, a 10% increase over the same period in 2020. The average social labor productivity reached about VND320 million/person/year, up 9.6% over the same period last year.
So far, the province has had 16,800 enterprises including 2,055 newly-registered enterprises last year.
The Gross Domestic Product per capita reached over US$7,600 and the rate of poor households according to multidimensional criteria was only 0.1% in 2021.
