Since Feb 4, 2020, Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control has been one of units conducting Covid-19 test.
Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control is eligible to test Covid-19 disease in terms of both facility and human resources. Staffs at the center’s Department of Microbiology are qualified to use Real Time polymerase chain reaction RT-PCR technology to diagnose Covid-19 disease, meeting WHO/Berlin standards. The technology shortens the time for Covid-19 diagnosis to 1-2 days from 3-5 days
After initial tests, if a positive or suspected Covid case is found, the center will send the sample to Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for confirming the test.
If anyone in Quang Ninh has the symptom of Covid-19 suspected case, he will be isolated as regulated. His sample will be sent to Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control for Covid-19 test.
The center affirms that the test is really beneficial for both suspected and infected cases because it allows hospitals to stop isolation towards suspected cases who have negative results, therefore reducing the number of isolated people and the burden on medical staff and medical supply.
Since Covid-19 outbreak, Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control has tested 1,300 samples. In Mar 10th alone, the center received 200 samples, the highest figure ever. The center staffs often work till midnight to ensure the fastest results.
