In Sept, 2019 the Ministry of Health launched the program of non-cash hospital charge payment, which is considered a great stride in the sector. Bai Chay in Quang Ninh is the first Hospitalto co-ordinate with Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank For Industry And Trade VietinBank to debut ATM smart health cards for patient.
In order to introduce a new, safe and convenient payment method, Bai Chay Hospital and Vietinbank open free-of-charge ATM smart health cards. The cards, which play as health records and ATM card also, are piloted at Check-up on Request Department and Tumor and Cancer Department. Patients have no longer queued for payment.
Chu Kim Phuong, a patient from Cam Pha City, said “It is now much more fast, convenient, just in few minutes”
Meawhile, Dang Thi Hieu from Uong Bi City said “This is the first time I have been introduced to use ATM smart health cards. After listening to the health worker’s explanation, I found it is an useful card as it combines personal information, health record, hospital charge payment, and even money withdrawal and recharge”.
After one month, Bai Chay Hospital delivers 5,000 cards for free. According to statistics by the hospital, cardholders saved 30-60 minutes during one medical check-up. The money left on the account after medical check-ups can be withdrawn at ATMs connected with ViettinBank.
In the coming time, the hospital will strengthen propaganda activities on the use of ATM smart health cards.
