As students return to classrooms for the 2026-2027 academic year, schools across Quang Ninh are partnering with local health authorities to provide comprehensive medical checkups. Students represent a core priority group in the region's sweeping 2026 universal healthcare initiative.
Driven by close coordination between healthcare, education, and municipal sectors, the program has been rapidly rolled out using flexible, age-tailored approaches. During the examinations, children undergo height, weight, and BMI measurements, alongside eye, ear, nose, throat, and dental checkups, as well as screenings for general physical and mental health conditions. Any cases exhibiting nutritional abnormalities, refractive errors, or other health concerns receive professional consultation for ongoing monitoring and appropriate intervention.
So far, the city has successfully screened over 99% of its children, keeping the campaign firmly on schedule.
The initiative leaves no child behind: medical staff conduct home visits for special cases requiring individualized care. In Bai Chay ward alone, health screenings have covered all minors under 18, comprising 2,240 children under 6 and 7,871 students aged 6 to 17.
Through these routine evaluations, potential health issues are swiftly identified, allowing doctors to provide immediate medical guidance, family consultations, and timely interventions.
