PM calls for int’l cooperation and solidarity to fight COVID-19

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the international community to work even more closely and cohesively together and forge greater solidarity in the common effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic which is anticipated to persist with complicated developments.

The Government chief made the call at a ceremony held on Wednesday to mark the 76th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day (September 2).

Pham underscored that the effort of each country is key and decisive, yet international cooperation is also important and shall create a breakthrough

He called on partners, friends and international organizations to continue assistance and sharing of technologies, experience, financing, medical supplies, equipment and bio-products, treatment drugs, and especially vaccines, as soon, as much and as early as possible, as to Viet Nam, “the best vaccine is the earliest given.”

Pham also asked partners and friends to create favorable conditions for facilitating international investment and trade flows in order to prevent disruption of global production and supply chain.

He reiterated Viet Nam is determined to pursue the dual goal of COVID-19 containment and economic recovery, in which the former is now the important and urgent task as protecting people’s health and lives is placed first and foremost.

Viet Nam is resolved to take every measures to curb and push back the pandemic and acquire sufficient vaccines as much and as soon as possible, said PM Pham.

He took the occasion to express sincere thanks to partners, friends and international organizations for their close cooperation with and active and effective support and assistance for Viet Nam, particularly in the fight against COVID-19.

He also appreciated and thanked partners and international organizations for taking care of and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese communities living and working around the world, enabling them to lead a safe and healthy life.
