Nha Tro Cave is 2km away from Ban Sen Commune, Van Don District. The Cave retains its original beauty as it is still untouched by human beings.
If you want to set your foot in Nha Tro Cave, you have to row a small boats as there is no wharf for docking large ships. Though tourism has been developed in Van Don in recent years, Nha Tro Cave is like sleeping beauty.
Why it was named “Nha Tro” or “Theater”? Even the eldest in Ban Sen has no answer. They just know that name dated back long time ago.
However, entering the cave, you will realize that it was named properly. A large space inside the cave, covering an area of 50m2, reminds visitors of a stage. Around the stage, stalactites come down like curtains. There is even backstage area.
Nha Tro is not only a beautiful cave but also an archeological site. According to Vietnam Institute of Archeology, shells of menali sea snails, main food of prehistoric people, have been found in the cave. Archeologists even found edge-grounded cobble artifacts dated back Stone Age, 5,000-7,000 years ago. There are also 5,000-6,000 year-old pottery artifacts. The institute affirms that Nha Tro Cave is a branch of Hoa Binh Culture and this is a historical treasure.
Nha Tro Cave is waiting for investor as Ban Sen Commune is near Minh Chau and Quan Lan Communes which own beautiful beaches and where tourism is well developed. The cave will surely be a great tourism attraction on Minh Chau – Quan Lan – Ban Sen route.
