September to December period is low season of Quang Ninh’s tourism. Therefore, Quang Ninh’s tourism sector and enterprises is working together to undertake efffective measures to reach the target of welcoming 14 million tourist arrivals this year.
Tourism is considered as Quang Ninh’s spearhead economic sector. In the first 8 months of 2019, Quang Ninh received 10.5 million tourist arrivals, achieving 75% of the year’s plan, a year on year increase of 14%, of which 3.7 million are foreign tourist arrivals, up 14% over the same period last year. Total tourism revenue in the last 8 months reached 20.7 trillion VND, an increase of 29% compared to the same period of 2018.
Defining transportation network as life-line and springboard for socio-economic development, especially for tourism development, Quang Ninh has carried out mega transportation projects. Such projects which have created connection and had positive influence on tourism can be listed, such as Ha Long Van Don Highway, Van Don International Airport, Ha Long International Cruise Port… Notably, by the end of August 2019, Van Don International Airport received 1,328 flights bringing 173,184 domestic passenger arrivals and 5,782 international traveler arrivals.
In order to lure more tourists, Quang Ninh’s tourism sector has worked with enterprises to strengthen propaganda activities and popularize tourist destinations as well as maintain current traditional markets and expand markets in Russia, Western Europe, Northern America, India and Middle East. It has also called for enterprises to take part in tourism promotion.
In response to the call, Van Don Development and Investment Joint-stock Company proposed the provincial-level plan on “tourism promotion during low season”. Accordingly, the pilot of combo tours will be launched to the end of the 4th quarter of 2019 with the aim of popularizing tourist attractions in Cam Pha, Mong Cai and Ha Long. For example, all-in-one tours will include entrance tickets, discount on services at hotels, restaurants, amusement parks while 3 day and 2 night tours with special price and package tours with flight tickets and special discount on services at hotels, restaurants, amusement parks.
In the last months of 2019, Quang Ninh will organize a number of cultural, sports and tourism events in provincial localities, take part in domestic and international fairs, and join tourism promotion programs held in large cities like Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City…It will also develops new tourism products, enhance human resource training, tighten the management of tourism environment, and improve the quality of services, thus affirming Quang Ninh as a safe, friendly and appealing tourist destination.
