The Prime Minister has recently issued the Decision N0 1206/QĐ-TTg recognizing Mong Cai as a second-class urban city belonging to Quang Ninh province.
Earlier, Quang Ninh succesfully defended the project to upgrade Mong Cai city into a second class provincial city, with the score of 85.96/100.
After being recognied as a third-class urban center in 2007, Mong Cai actively promoted human and financial resources to boost socio-economic development by constructing comprehensive infrastructure; expanding spaces of the city, enhancing urban culture development and management and increasing population scale.
Accordingly, a great number of bulidings and key projects have been implemented in the city. For example: developing detailed plannings and construction planning for the urban and socio-economic infrastructure. The People’s Committee of Mong Cai city has also put high priority on upgrading transport infrastructure, waste water drainage and treatment, expanding and improving the main streets of the city.
In recent years, Mong Cai city has maintained high and stable economic growth with a 5-year average growth of 16.4%, a 1.23 fold from the 2006-2010 period, 1.9% higher than the target set in the Resolution of the 22nd city Party Congress.
Average income per capita in 2017 reached USD3,417, and state budget collection totaled to more than VND1.4 trillion.
