Mong Cai city: Import-export activities maintained amid Covid-19
In order to achieve the "dual goal" in 2021, Mong Cai City has identified the key tasks aiming at maitaning a safe locality and promoting export and import activities, especially the export of Vietnamese agricultural products.
Mong Cai authorities have carried out a range of flexible solutions in line with various directives issued by the central and provincial governments as well as cooperation agreements with Dongxing City (China) on Covid-19 prevention and control. A safe border gate area is an important condition and premise to maintain and promote import-export activities.
Controlling the risk of pathogens is seen as the city’s focus of attetion. It has prepared a control plan to respond drastically to the situation of SARS-CoV-2 suspected positive cases for SARS-CoV-2 within the city, especially at the border areas. The authorities have to calmly and promptly remove F0 from the open roads and border gate areas after 20 minutes upon detection. Simultaneously, related cases need to be quickly traced, identified, and isolated with an effective and safe monitoring and testing strategies.
Businesses and truck drivers have been required to strictly conform to all defined regulations and for the sake of maintaining import-export and service activities, ensuring the health of workers, drivers, residents, and frontline forces to minimize incurred costs.
In the difficult context of the Covid-19 pandemic, local authorities have offered the business community active support, actively reformed administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for goods clearance, and cooperated with China’s Dongxing city to ease difficulties for businesses.
These drastic solutions have been intrumental in maintaining import-export activities, effectively implementing the "dual goal" of preventing and controlling the pandemic while stabilizing and developing the economy.
