Red Cross volunteers of the Japanese prefecture of Kyushu and their counterparts from Quang Ninh’s Quang Yen town began planting mangrove trees in Ha An ward on August 20.
They planted 400 mangrove crabapple trees in a mud ground in the ward.
This is one of the significant events that not only helps to tighten the friendship between Vietnam and Japan Red Cross but also to raise public awareness of the vital role of mangrove in preventing Vietnamese people in general and the locals in particular from disasters.
The event has contributed to supplementing and expanding the area of coastal mangrove forests, enhancing the coastal protection capacity, protecting the dyke system, as well as improving the quality of forest planting and protection and responding to natural disasters in the locality.
