An international workshop entitled opened on July 24 in Ha Long City, discussing the preservation and development of Ha Long Bay as a natural wonder of the world.
Prominent among those at the meeting were the Minister of Culture Sports and Tourism Hoang Anh Tuan, General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Van Tuan, Secretary of Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh and Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy.
The workshop entitled “Preserving and promoting the value of world natural heritage Halong Bay - new vision” also attracted the participation of 150 tourism managers, some tourism enterprises, associations; scientists, experts of various fields as economics, environment, culture, heritage, geology and architecture and embassies of some countries in Viet Nam and representatives of tourism enterprises.
General Director Nguyen Van Tuan of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism emphasized the importance of the management, conservation and development of Ha Long Bay values. Thus, he asked the workshop participants to focus on four main issues: defining the role and position of the world new wonder Halong Bay in the new context toward the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy until 2020 and vision for 2030, specifying opportunities and challenges in preserving and promoting the value of Halong Bay, proposing solutions for conservation, management, and trademark development, and adopting a framework for action plans for tourism development of Ha Long in the upcoming period.
Speaking at the workshop, Secretary of Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciate the seminar’s role and also expressed hope for breakthrough solutions to conserve, promote and honor the value of Ha Long Bay for developing sustainable tourism appropriate with the role and position of a word natural heritage and a new natural wonder of the world./.
