By this time, Ha Long City has achieved and exceeded 18 out of 19 targets set in the Resolution of the 24th municipal Party Congress in the term 2015- 2020, thereby affirming the role and position of the dynamic and creative city, contributing to creating a new driving force for the province’s development.
After 4 years implementing the Resolution of the 24th municipal Party Congress in the term 2015 – 2020, the remarkable results have been reported in the terms of economics, socio-culture, national defence and security, party building of Ha Long City.
The city’s economic growth has retained high with the average rate of 15.8% in the 2015- 2019 period. Total state buget collection in the city from 2015 until now achieved nearly 59 tril.VND, equal to 30% compared to the figure in the term 2011- 2015.
Tourism sector is identified as the city’s spearhead economic sector. The high-class tourism products are great magnets for domestic and international tourists. Ha Long - Quang Ninh Tourism Week and Carnival Program have become the unique tourism products and highlight of Ha Long tourism in particular and Quang Ninh in general.
Tourism business environment is healthy, friendly and safe. The city set up tourism hot line and renewed tourism promotion methods, particularly for Ha Long Bay – the World Natural Heritage and Wonder. As the result, the number of tourist arrivals to Ha Long is increasing year by year. From 2015 until now, the total number of tourist arrivals to Ha Long reached 34.7 mil., equal to 126% compared to that of the 2011 – 2015 period, bringing a tourism revenue of nearly 40 tril.VND, equal to 144% in comparision with that of the 2011 - 2015 period.
On the basis of the economic development, the city has focused on social security, thereby helping locals enjoy achievements that they have contributed to. From the beginning of the term up to now, the city has spent 809 bil. VND for education and training, vocational training, culture - information, health, population, physical training and sports etc., created jobs for over 28,000 employees and opened 18 vocational training classes for rural laborers.
