Ha Long City has improved the quality of services and invested in infrastructure to meet tourists’ increasing demand. As a result, in the 9 months of 2019, the city receives 7.9 million tourist arrivals and earns a revenue of 15,788 billion VND, a year on year increase of 21% and 35% respectively.
Services and tourism sectors have affirmed important roles in Ha Long City’s economic structure. Along with enhancing advertisement and investment in tourism, the municipal authority has focused on improving the quality of tourism services and environment.
Specifically, local authority has closely coordinated with relevant departments, the managers of ports and tourist wharfs, and the owners of tourist boats to administer activities at ports and tourist wharves, thus ensuring the public order and security and bettering the quality of services. Local functional bodies have also conducted regular checks on food safety and hygiene at restaurants and hotels as well as activities of high-speed boats, kayaks, rowing boats on Ha Long Bay….
Trade activities at central markets and tourist areas are ensured with the rate of listed prices ranging from 80% to 90%. Commodities available at super markets and trade centers are certified with quality and origins.
Along with improvement of tourism business environment, Ha Long City continues investing in and upgrading synchronous and modern tourism infrastructure. For example, upgrading highway 18A, from the intersection between Hoang Quoc Viet Road and highway 18A to Bai Chay Bridge, expanding Bai Tho Bridge (Tran Quoc Nghien Road), expanding coastal ring-road connecting Ha Long City with Cam Pha City… Those projects not only meet the requirements of tourism infrastructure and services but also become landmarks of the city and new tourism products, satisfying increasing demand of local people and both domestic and international visitors to Ha Long.
