Ha Long Bay – Vietnam: The bravery of the fleet named after the Ha Long Bay world heritage

In August 2019, Ha Long Bay - Vietnam team along with other ten teams officially started the World Clipper Race. With high determination and firm spirit, the clipper named after the world heritage has proved its proud breakthroughs.

The World Clipper Race is a 20 year-old prestigious challenge owned and operated by British Clipper Ventures PLC. It gathers the UK’s large firms, well-known people, tourism experts, and social activists in the world. The race runs in 12 months to the famous destinations.

Joining the race season 2019 -2020, Ha Long Bay Vietnam clipper was led by British 31 year-old Joshua Haydn Stickland. His skippers are provided with uniforms with logo resembling Ha Long, Quang Ninh. In the next season 2021-2022, the team will continue taking part in the challenge and Ha Long Bay will be one of the host destinations.

According to Quang Ninh’s Vice-chairman, Bui Van Khang, the World Clipper Race is not only a yacht circumnavigation of the globe but also an effective connector between the destinations with local people, tourists, and international investors. This is a good opportunity to popularize and promote Quang Ninh’s tourism potential, especially the image of Ha Long Bay – the world heritage and natural wonder, while boosting international trade cooperation, attracting investment, developing tourism economy, and enhancing cultural exchange with the UK and other countries during the cause of the race.

On Aug 29th, at St Katherine Docks of London, the UK, Quang Ninh’s Vice-chairman, Bui Van Khang, and delegation named the yacht “Ha Long Bay – Vietnam” joining the World Clipper Race 2019 -2020
