Tien Yen, the eastern gateway of Quang Ninh, is the hometown for Dao, Tay, San Diu, San Chi… ethnic people for generations. Over time, cultural values deriving from their daily life have become more diverse, which explains why the district has been considered a cultural center of ethnic groups in the northeastern region.
There are over 6,5 thousand Tay people in Tien Yen district, accounting for about 14.5 percent of the district’s population. Therefore, the festival plays a very important role in preserving and developing unique cultural value of this ethnic group.
