On August 28, in Ha Long City, Ministry of Industry and Trade and Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee organized a conference on dissemination of the EU-Viet Nam free trade agreement (EVFTA).
At the conference, attendants were introduced about the content of EVFTA signed in June and expected to take effect in early 2020. Addressing the conference, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that EVFTA and earlier-inked trade agreements would be tools to restructure the economy, innovate growth model, and facilitate Vietnam’s enterprises to join new value chains which were formed via bilateral ties with international partners.
At his speech, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky, said that the province was defined by the Government as an economic nucleus, connecting with Ha Noi and Hai Phong in the economic triangle of the North. In recent years, Quang Ninh had completed its transportation infrastructure to boost regional connection. With the future development strategies of the province attached to new opportunities opened up by EVFTA, he proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue to support Quang Ninh to effectively develop industry and trade.
