On October 1 and 2 (the 21st and 22nd days of the eighth lunar month in the Year of the Horse), the 593rd death anniversary of King Le Thai To, also known as Emperor Le Loi, was solemnly held at the Temple of King Le Thai To in Hoanh Bo Ward, Quang Ninh City.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh City People’s Committee Vu Thi Mai Anh, representatives of city departments and agencies, leaders of Hoanh Bo Ward, representatives of the Vietnam Le Family Council, descendants of the Le family in Quang Ninh, local residents and visitors from across the region. The occasion provided an opportunity for later generations to pay tribute to the national hero who led the Lam Son uprising to victory, restored independence to Dai Viet and founded the Later Le Dynasty.
Built in the late 15th century, the Temple of King Le Thai To is the only temple in Quang Ninh dedicated to King Le Loi, while also honouring two other national heroes, Nguyen Trai and Le Lai. The series of activities marking the 593rd death anniversary of King Le Thai To began with a memorial ceremony for Trung Tuc Vuong Le Lai, commemorating his heroic sacrifice in saving his lord. The programme also featured mass dance and fitness performances, as well as cultural exchanges among local villages and residential areas.
The death anniversary ceremony not only contributed to preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of the Temple of King Le Thai To, but also helped foster the Vietnamese philosophy of “When drinking water, remembering its source”, nurture pride in national history and strengthen solidarity within the local community.
