In recent years, the number of tourist arrivals to Co To has sharply increased, leading to bad impacts on the environment.
To deal with this problem, the Youth Union of Co To island district has undertaken many robust measures to protect the ecological environment and the island's landscape in order to target sustainable tourism development.
Since 2018, the Youth Union of Co To district has implemented the project "Restricting the use of plastic bags on the island" including propagating people and visitors to use environmentally friendly materials to replace plastic bags and delivering 1000 plastic baskets to households living on the island for daily shopping.
This not only helps to save money but also reduces the amount of waste to the environment. The Youth Union of Co To district also regularly co-ordinates with other units to clean up the environment, join hands to keep the island clean and green.
