Surrounded by a 73-km coastline, 150-km2 sea surface, an approximately 1,000-ha of ponds, lagoons and tidal flats with hundreds of islets, Cam Pha City is a strategic and advantageous locality for developing marine economy.
Cam Pha gathers conditions for developing highly profitable aquaculture, seafood exploitation and processing, import-export industry, industrial clusters and coastal urban. The city is also favorable for developing eco-tourism, marine and spiritual tourism.
Summing up 10 years of implementing the 10th Party Central Committee's resolution No 4 on “Vietnam Maritime Strategy towards 2020”, awareness of the political system and people of the significance of the marine in economic development and national sovereignty protection has been raised. Cam Pha has carried out robust measures to attract investment and actively worked with investors in undertaking survey and consider suitable tourism products in Bai Tu Long Bay, especially tourism experience such as snorkeling, kayaking and leisure at sea resorts and public beaches…
Identifying sea port as a spearhead sector, Cam Pha called on investment to upgrade existing ports, namely, Cua Ong, Km6 Quang Hanh Port cluster, Cam Hai Port, Hon Net-Con Ong in order to effectively exploit port system and serve export-import demand. Cam Pha is pioneering in deploying the detailed planning of concentrated sea-cage aquaculture toward 2020 and vision toward 2030 which not only concretizes agricultural restructure project but also protects aquatic resources and environment.
The city attached special importance to marine logistics. It is dynamically working with provincial departments to set up a harbor and fishing logistics at Cam Thuy and Cam Thach wards. Once completed, the project would provide safe haven to 200 boats with capacity of 200CV. The project has functional division, buoy system and fairways with total investment of nearly 193 bil VND.
Cam Pha reminded people of a mining center of Quang Ninh and the nation, however, it is taking advantages of a long coastline so as to boost green growth, striving to become a sustainable industry-services city in 2020.
