In order to reduce the dependence on mineral industries, Cam Pha is determined to make tourism as a spearhead economic sector. The city made tourism plans to 2020 with a vision towards 2030, which focus on 2 advantageous tourism kinds, namely spiritual tourism and relax tourism. Accordingly, the city has invested in upgrading and expanding relics, attracted enterprises’ investment in relax tourism, and proposed Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee to recognize 5 tourist attractions (Cua Ong Temple, Mineral Hot Spring Center, Quang Hong Beach, Luong Ngoc Beach, Vung Duc Relic and Landscape).

Besides, Cam Pha has paid much importance to the development of trade infrastructure. In order to fulfill this target, the city has been implementing the plan of developing trade and services in Cam Pha City to 2025. Thanks to different sources of investment capital, the city has upgraded and renovated 15 traditional markets with a total capital of nearly 220 billion VND. It plans to have its all 20 traditional markets upgraded by the end of this year.

Along with traditional markets, a modern system of supermarkets and trade centers is being completed. There are now 5 supermarkets and 10 Vinmart+ shops in the city. It is expected that Vincom Center covering an area of 6,690m2 will be put into use by the 4th quarter of this year. In addition, Central Group is studying to build a BigC in Cam Thach Ward covering an area of more than 2,000m2. These trade centers are not only landmarks of the city but also springboards for trade and services in the city.

Taking the advantage of a coastal line stretching over 73km and sea surface of more than 150km2 as well as hundreds of islands and islets, Cam Pha City has invested in ports, namely Cua Ong, Km6, Khe Day, Vung Duc, Hon Net…which have been proved effectively. The city plans to expand and turn Cua Ong Port into a general port to receive different kinds of exported commodities with large volumes while Hon Net and Con Ong Ports into important gateways of Quang Ninh and the Northern Vietnam to the world.

Thanks to decisive measures, Cam Pha will not only effectively implement the provincial and municipal working year theme but also give a strong boost to economic restructure from “brown” to “green” growth, helping to target the goal of becoming a sustainable industrial and services city by 2020.
