On September 5, the Vietnam–Hokkaido Festival 2026 officially opened in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. The Quang Ninh City delegation, led by Duong Manh Cuong, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Internal Affairs Commission of the Quang Ninh City Party Committee, attended the festival.
Over the two-day festival, Quang Ninh City presented a booth at the exhibition themed “Connecting through Culture, Shaping the Future of Vietnam–Japan”. The booth featured photographs, traditional costumes, traditional musical instruments, OCOP products and distinctive handicrafts. Artistic performances by Quang Ninh artists also impressed Japanese audiences. Beyond simply showcasing its culture, Quang Ninh’s presence at the festival reflected the increasingly close connections between localities of the two countries. The event also provided an opportunity for Quang Ninh to strengthen exchanges, promote its image and seek new opportunities for cooperation in the coming period.
As part of the Vietnam–Hokkaido Festival 2026, the Vietnam–Hokkaido Forum was held on the afternoon of September 5, with the participation of representatives of agencies, organisations and localities from Vietnam and Japan.
Under the theme “Strengthening Local Linkages through Culture, Sports, Tourism, Exchanges and Human Resources Training”, the forum focused on discussing the potential, strengths and complementary advantages between Vietnam and Japan. At the forum, Quang Ninh City highlighted its outstanding cultural and tourism strengths and the appeal of a locality endowed with rich and diverse heritage. The city also expressed its desire to further promote cooperation in education, training and human resources development.
The connections forged through the Vietnam–Hokkaido Forum will contribute to creating a stronger foundation for Quang Ninh to expand cooperation in areas of strength, towards long-term and mutually beneficial development.
