The Ministry of Health just announced that it approved Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in Viet Nam.

The approval was made at the proposal of the Pfizer Viet Nam Limited Company.

The name of the approved vaccine is Comirnaty manufactured by Pfizer Manufacturing Belgium NV in Belgium and BioNTech Manufacturing GmbH in Germany.

As the Government planned to acquire 150 million this year to cover 70 percent of the country’s population, the ministry is stepping up efforts to diversify sources of vaccine supply to realize the goal.

On Thursday, the ministry recommended citizens should only receive COVID-19 jabs at authorized medical facilities in order to prevent citizens from getting fake vaccines after some organizations and individuals said they have vaccines.

At present, all COVID-19 vaccines in Viet Nam must be approved by the Ministry of Health. Each batch of imported vaccines shall have to undergo strict examination procedures and store in cold chain system before putting into use.

It called on people to stay calm and wait for their turn to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
