Van Don: Rare turtle released back to the sea

On Jan. 18, Van Don district’s Traffic Police Team and a local resident, Vu Quang Trieu, released a turtle to the sea at Van Yen commune.

Earlier, Vu Quang Trieu informed the Marine Traffic Police Team (Van Don District Police) that he detected a turtle stuck in the net when he was catching fish on the morning of January 18.

Realizing that this is a rare turtle that needs to be protected, he handed over the Marine Traffic Police Team to properly release the turtles back into the natural environment.

It is reported that this sea turtle weighing about 10kg belongs to the species of green sea turtle included in the list of endangered species that need to be protected and developed in Vietnam and internationally. The turtle is in good health condition after being checked by experts.

The Traffic Police Team together with Mr. Vu Quang Trieu released the turtle to the sea in Van Yen commune (Van Don district) for the conservation of such precious species of animal.
