Tran Quoc Nghien Temple Festival opens in Ha Long city
The festival of Tran Quoc Nghien Temple (Duc Ong Temple) opened this morning in Ha Long city as part of the ongoing Ha Long Tourism Week.
The annual festival used to be organized on the 24th day of the 3rd lunar month, but it has been restored and held within the framework of Ha Long Tourism Week since 2008 .
The festival opened with a palanquin procession pass by Le Thanh Tong Road to Long Tien pagoda and then back to the Duc Ong Temple.
Locals and tourists also attended the temple to do incense offerings to show gratitude to Tran Quoc Nghien for his great merit.
The festival featured many rituals and activities including the lantern floating and release ceremonies; as well as other artistic performances and folk games, such as a dragon dance, tug-of-war and cock fighting.
The event also aims to contribute to public awareness-raising of the preservation and promotion of the cultural and historic value of the national historic site complex of Bai Tho Mountain, Long Tien pagoda and Duc Ong Temple.
It has become a tradition among Ha Long citizens, contributing to promoting the local culture and educating younger generations about patriotism and national pride.
