Three million tourists recorded during National Day holidays

As this was the last long holiday before the end of summer and the new academic year, localities exerted efforts to seize opportunities by building and renewing tourism products and inaugurating new sites to attract more guests.

Around three million tourists were recorded during the National Day holidays from September 1-4, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said on Monday.

The average accommodation occupation rate reached 60-65 per cent.

The accommodation capacity of hotels and resorts of three to five stars in some localities like Hạ Long, Đà Nẵng, Phú Quốc and Mũi Né reached 70 per cent and in Phan Thiết, Tiến Thành, Hàm Thuận Nam and La Gi of the southcentral coastal province of Bình Thuận reached nearly 90 per cent.

As this was the last long holiday before the end of summer and the new academic year, localities exerted efforts to seize opportunities by building and renewing tourism products and inaugurating new sites to attract more guests.

HCM City continued implementing its tourism recovery plan with the “Welcome to Hồ Chí Minh City” programme. In the four days, the largest city in Việt Nam welcomed 920,000 visitors, of whom 130,000 stayed overnight, and the occupation rate surpassed 75 per cent.

During the period, Hà Nội capital city served 422,700 holiday-makers, including 22,700 foreigners. The total revenue of the tourism sector in the period is estimated at VNĐ1.3 trillion (US$55.3 million).

Tourist attractions in downtown Hà Nội include Thủ Lệ Zoo (76,450 visitors), Văm Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám (Temple of Literature) relic site (around 13,000 visitors), Hoàng Thành Thăng Long (Imperial Citadel) (over 10,000 visitors), Hỏa Lò Prison relic site (9,980 tourist arrivals).

Many people chose to enjoy their holidays in the suburbs such as Khoang Xanh – Suối Tiên tourism site (15,930 visitors), Ao Vua tourism site (17,160 arrivals), Bát Tràng pottery village (8,000 visitors).

On this occasion, the Hà Nội Department of Tourism, in coordination with President Hồ Chí Minh’s Mausoleum Management Board, presented over 20,000 gifts to visitors to the site. On four days, the mausoleum welcomed 73,215 visitors.

In addition to domestic destinations, outbound tours have become more attractive, with Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Thailand being the favourite destinations.
