The Spring Meeting 2024: Northern provinces expand cooperation with China’s Guangxi province

On February 28, in Beihai City, Guangxi, China, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region organized the 2024 Spring Meeting between Provincial Party Secretaries of 4 border provinces of Ha Giang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Attending the conference, on the Vietnamese side were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Tran Hong Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Cao Bang Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung, acting Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee; representatives of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee; representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; leaders of the Vietnamese Embassy in China; Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee and leaders of departments, sectors and commissions of 4 Vietnam border provinces.

On the Chinese side, there were Mr. Liu Ning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Mr. Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; representatives of agencies of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Within the framework of the program, leaders of the 5 provinces and region agreed that China and Vietnam are good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners. They also pledged to continue to step up high-level exchanges and practical cooperation in the fields of economy-trade, people-to-people exchange, and border management.

At the 2024 Spring Meeting, Liu hosted separate receptions for the Party leaders of Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, Lang Son and Cao Bang, during which they exchanged ideas on the implementation of common perceptions reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and nations as well as measures to boost practical collaboration in various fields.

The Provincial and Regional Party Committee Secretaries signed a Minutes on building a community sharing the future of Vietnam - China, witnessed the signing ceremony of the Implementation Plan for the period of 2024 - 2026 between the health departments of 4 border provinces of Vietnam and the Health Committee (Guangxi, China) on medical cooperation, and signed memorandum of understanding on establishing a cooperation mechanism to promote logistics services between the four border provinces of Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

As planned, the 2025 Spring Meeting Program will be held in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam.
