Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Republic of India visits Ha Long Bay

On the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Republic of India and the Delegation of Indian Parliament paid a visit to Ha Long Bay this morning.

The delegation was welcomed by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Xuan Ky, the leaders of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and related departments.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council expressed his honor to welcome Mr. Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Republic of India and his delegation to Ha Long Bay.

He also briefly introduced the province's socio-economic situation and shared his hope that this visit would further tighten the relations between India and Vietnam in general and with Quang Ninh in particular, especially in field of tourism.

Especially, after the success of the International Yoga Day jointly organized by Quang Ninh province and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam in 2020, it is expected that Quang Ninh would continue to be the host for such kind of event, contributing to promoting Quang Ninh's image and attracting more tourists from various places, including the Indian market - a country with up to 1.3 billion people.

H.E. Mr. Om Birla, The Speaker of the Lok Sabha of the Republic of India appreciated Quang Ninh province for the warm welcome and expressed great impression at the beautiful scenery of Ha Long Bay. He wished Quang Ninh province would continue to achieve success on the path of development.

He also believed that this visit would promote the mutual cooperation in fields of people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges, information technology, aviation and tourism, etc.
