The opening ceremony of 2022 National Cycling Race - HTV Cup
The opening ceremony of the 2022 National Cycling Race, or the 34th Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup 2022, was held this morning, April 6, at the 30/10 Square in Ha Long city.
The race is organized by Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) in collaboration with the Vietnam Bicycle - Motor Sports Federation and other localities and units.
This sports event is among a series of activities and programs aiming to celebrate the 47th anniversary of Vietnam's national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2022), and the 132th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19). It is also part of significant programs responding to the upcoming SEA Games held in Vietnam in May.
According to organizers, this year’s race taking place from April 5 to 30 consists of 23 racing stages starting from Quang Ninh, passing through localities including Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, Phu Yen, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Bao Loc and ending at Reunification Hall - Ho Chi Minh City on April 30. The total length of the route is 2,316.2km.
This year's race attracts together nearly 400 members from 14 racing teams such as HCMC-Vinama, HCMC New Group, Domesco Dong Thap Pharmaceutical, Dong Thap Dopagan, Bike Life Dong Nai, Ynghua Dong Nai, Loc Group Troi, Pearl Troi An Giang, Military Region 7, Binh Minh Plastics Binh Duong, 620 Chau Thoi Vinh Long, Hanoi. Thanh Hoa will also first participate in the race.
This is the first time Quang Ninh has hosted three stages of the race. The first stage, an individual race, was held in Ha Long City yesterday. Biker Igor Prolov from the Ho Chi Minh City team won the first prize with a record of 4 minutes 39 seconds.
After the opening ceremony, participants joined the 2nd stage on April 6 from Ha Long to Bai Chay and get back Ha Long (64 kilometers).
At the 3rd stage launched on April 7, racers will partake in the 122-kilometer route to Cam Pha - Hon Gai - Uong Bi - Hai Phong.
