Quang Ninh welcomed 15.6 million tourist arrivals in 9 months
According to Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, the province’s tourism recorded an impressive 15.6 million visitors, including nearly 2.6 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2024, an increase 20 per cent over the same period last year.
The province’s total tourism revenue reached approximately VND 36,9 billion, an increase of 39 per cent over the same period last year.
About 2.3 million foreign tourists are mainly from the markets of China, South Korea, the United States, India, and some EU nations.
Quang Ninh province set a target of welcoming 17-20 million tourists in 2024, including 3 million foreign visitors.
After suffering 24.223 trillion VND ($1 billion) in damage from Typhoon Yagi on September 7, Quang Ninh province mobilized rapid reconstruction and recovery. Tourism activities have currently returned to normal in Ha Long. With the spirit of cooperation and unity, local residents and functional forces have proactively cleaned up the environment and beautified the urban area.
According to the master plan on Quang Ninh tourism development to 2020 with a vision to 2030, the province will build Van Don to become one of the province’s four key tourism centres, focus development efforts on Bai Tu Long Bay, and link tourism development between there and Halong Bay.
In addition, the province has also closely coordinated with Hai Duong and Bac Giang to submit the dossier of the Yen Tu, Vinh Nghiem, Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage. With this effort, the province hopes for a second World Heritage site, opening a new international tourism centre right next to Halong Bay.
Quang Ninh is striving for tourism truly develop into a key and sustainable economic sector, reaffirming its role as a tourism centre connecting regional and international areas, and a top tourism focus of the country.
From 2025 to 2030, the province strives to welcome at least 25 million visitors, including at least 8.5 million international visitors. The average growth rate of tourism will reach about 10 per cent per year, rising to 15 per cent by 2030.
