Quang Ninh tops the list of destinations for foreign ships
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the number of foreign ships arriving at seaports in the past 10 months increased by over 30% compared to the same period in 2020. Quang Ninh’s seaports top the list of destination for foreign ships’ arrivals
The quantity of ships carrying foreign flags through Vietnam’s seaports reached more than 59,100 in the first 10 months of this year, representing an increase of over 30% compared to the same period in 2020. Most of these vessels were under 200 DWT and operated in the area of Quang Ninh.
Also, the number of ships with the Vietnamese national flag also slightly grew by 3% to reach more than 52,500 ships during the Covid-19 pandemic. The amount of cargo transported by ships through seaports hit over 368 million tons, up 6% over the same period last year.
Contrary to the rise in shipping volume, the number of inland waterway vehicles passing through Vietnam's seaports in the past 10 months recorded a 6 percent decrease year on year with a total number of 292,300 ships.
The number of sea-river vessels (VR-SB) reached 40,558, equivalent to the data last year. The volume of goods transported by VR-SB through the seaport in the first 10 months still increased by 46% to reach 50 million tons, accounting for 28% of the total volume of goods through inland waterways.
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, thanks to the growth in cargo volume transported by marine ships in the first 10 months of 2021, the total volume of goods through Vietnam's seaport system reached more than 588 million tons, up 3% over the same period last year. In which, container freight increased by 10% to reach more than 20 million TEUs.
