On May 12, a working session was held between the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held and the Department of Performing Arts (under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) to prepare for two upcoming events: the 2025 International Puppetry Festival, scheduled for September–October, and the 2025 International Circus Festival, slated for November-December.

Vietnam's water puppetry will be performed at the International Puppetry Festival 2025 in November in Quang Ninh province.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed event organization plans, logistics, accommodation arrangements, transportation, and staffing.

They also agreed on specific responsibilities and conducted surveys of several potential venues.

These cultural events are expected to help build a distinctive brand, drawing greater public interest in the arts of puppetry and circus. They will also provide an opportunity for Quang Ninh to promote its natural beauty, cultural heritage, people, and tourism strengths.

Notably, the festivals will highlight and position Quang Ninh as a hub for the performing arts industry, enhancing its appeal to directors and artists from both Vietnam and abroad.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved a proposal for the International Puppetry Festival 2025. At the event, Vietnamese artists will have an opportunity to introduce the country's traditional art form and intangible cultural heritage, water puppetry, to the world.

Artists will also have the chance to gain creative experience and acknowledge other forms of puppetry from worldwide friends, helping enrich the cultural life of the country.

Local cultural management agencies will also objectively assess the current state of puppetry both domestically and internationally, thus contributing to building a long-term preservation and development strategy and promoting Vietnamese puppetry at home and abroad.

In addition, the festival will help spread Việt Nam's reputation for natural landscapes, friendly people, diverse cultural heritage and heroic history, upholding the nation's image as a safe and attractive destination.

Quang Ninh, home to the famous UNESCO World Heritage site of Hạ Long Bay, is an ideal stage for international puppetry shows.
