Cua Ong temple autumn festival 2025 opens
On September 24, or the 3rd day of the 8th lunar month, the Cua Ong Temple Autumn Festival 2025 officially opened at the Cua Ong temple special national relic site in Cua Ong ward. This is the temple’s second annual festival.

Cua Ong temple, a cultural and historical landmark of the Tran dynasty, is closely tied to the legacy of Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang, celebrated for his resounding victories in defending the nation’s northeastern borders. In 2017, the temple was recognized by the Prime Minister as a special national historical relic site.
Held each year on the 3rd-4th days of the 2nd lunar month and the 3rd-4th days of the 8th lunar month, the festival honors the life, merits, and achievements of Tran Quoc Tang and other Tran dynasty generals who safeguarded the northeastern frontier.

The autumn festival features solemn ceremonies including the drum-and-gong ritual to open the celebration, incense offerings in memory of Tran Quoc Tang, and worship rites dedicated to him and other deities at the Upper Temple, Mother Temple, and Trung Thien Long Mother Temple. The event attracts large numbers of ceremonial troupes, local residents, and visitors from across the country.
On October 7, or the 16th day of the 8th lunar month, an incense-offering ceremony will be held to commemorate the 712th death anniversary of Tran Quoc Tang, and on October 11, or the 20th day of the 8th lunar month, a similar ceremony will honor the 725th death anniversary of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan.
Recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, the Cua Ong temple festival, held annually, is a deeply spiritual and cultural event that pays tribute to the contributions of national heroes while attracting thousands of residents and visitors nationwide.
