Quang Ninh targets to welcome 9.5 million tourist arrivals in 2022
The information was released at the conference held by Quang Ninh Department of Tourism in Ha Long City on Dec. 25 to review the work in 2021 and deploy tasks in 2022.
As reported by the Department of Tourism, the COVID-19 pandemic has produced considerable impacts on the tourism sector, as a result, the number of tourists and the tourism revenue in 2020 was only about 63% compared to those in 2019; the same figure for 2021 was only 31 per cent of the same time before the outbreak in 2019.
The total number of tourist arrivals in 2021 is estimated at 4.38 million, equal to 97 per cent of the planned target; total tourism revenue is estimated at 7,745 billion VND, reaching 85 per cent of the planned target.
Notwithstanding such difficulties, Quang Ninh tourism still had positive changes in 2021. The tourism space of Quang Ninh has been expanded. New tourist spaces have been formed in Hai Ha, Tien Yên, Binh Lieu and Ba Che in addition to the four key tourist centers of Ha Long City - Uong Bi, Dong Trieu, Quang Yen - Van Don, and Co To - Mong Cai. The new Ha Long area (old Hoanh Bo) has also been in the process of investment and development.
Key projects such as Trieu bridge, Minh Khai intersection, Cua Luc 1 bridge, Ha Long – Cam Pha sea border and the Van Don - Mong Cai highway have been under implementation, contributing to the inter-regional connection and fostering socio-economic development.
Many tourism attractions including Legacy Yen Tu, Vinpearl Ha Long, Tuan Chau International Tourist Area, FLC, Sun World Halong Complex, Premier Village Halong Bay Resort, and Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh have actively prepared to welcome tourists.
The sector has also paid great attention to building capacity for tourism human resource with a series of programs suitable for each group of jobs and employees.
In 2022, it is forecast that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic may be prolonged, and the tourism sector will have to confront with various difficulties and challenges. The province’s tourism industry strives for the total number of tourist arrivals to reach 9,530,000; in which international arrivals will reach 1,430,000; total revenue from tourism activities will reach 19,000 billion; the average expenditure of a tourist will hit VND 2 million; and budget revenue from tourism will reach over VND1,700 billion.
