Quang Ninh student wins Bronze Medal at 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad
The Ministry of Education and Training has officially announced the results of the Vietnamese national team at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO), hosted by Uzbekistan. Among the medalists, Quang Ninh proudly contributed one Bronze Medal.

The medal was awarded to Ninh Quang Thang, a 12th-grade student specializing in Informatics at Ha Long High School for the Gifted.
Earlier, Thang also won Second Prize in the National Competition for excellent students.
The 2025 APIO, held from May 17-18, attracted 868 contestants from 42 delegations representing countries and territories across the region. This year’s exam was noted for its creativity and alignment with international standards, offering problems that allowed for diverse and innovative problem-solving approaches.
Impressively, all six members of the Vietnamese team earned medals, securing Vietnam 5th place overall, behind China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, and maintaining its leading position in Southeast Asia in the field of informatics.

This marks the second time a student from Quang Ninh has medaled at the APIO. In 2022, Vu Huy Hoang, also from Ha Long High School for the Gifted, won a Silver Medal. These achievements underscore the strength of Quang Ninh’s general education system and its effective approach to identifying and nurturing academic talent. They also demonstrate that local students possess informatics and computational thinking skills on par with peers from top-performing countries in the region and beyond.
With his Bronze Medal in hand, Ninh Quang Thang will represent Vietnam at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), to be held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, 2025.
