Quang Ninh’s Sao Mai Singing Contest concludes

Nguyen Tuong Linh, Mai Thu Huong, and Doan Hong Hanh were named the winners of the chamber music, folk music and pop music genres of the 2022 Quang Ninh’s Sao Mai (Morning Star) singing contest.

QMG Director cum Editor- in- chef, Mai Vu Tuan, congratulated 9 qualifying singers participating in the final round.

On July 3, the final round of Quang Ninh’s Sao Mai (Morning Star) singing contest was held in Ha Long city by the Quang Ninh Media Group. Music lovers enjoyed songs performed by 9 qualifying singers who excellently passed the semifinal on June 29.

Prominent among those at the event were Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khang, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh, and QMG Director cum Editor- in- chef Mai Vu Tuan.

The final night was televised live by Quang Ninh Media Center on two channels of QTV1 and QTV3, broadcast live on channel QNR2, and livestreamed on fanpage QMG - Quang Ninh News 24/7, QTVtube channel.

The Quang Ninh’s 2022 Sao Mai singing contest came back after 5 years of being postponed due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The professtional contest attracted 100 contestants, confirming its roles as the leading professional and prestigious music competion in the province. The contest kickstarted on June 25 incuding 3 rounds: preliminary round, semi-final and final.

In the final round, each contestant was allowed to choose 2 songs of 3 music genres: chamber, folk, and pop music. Particularly, each contestant must sing at least 1 new song, which hadn’t been performed in the previous rounds, directly with the band.

Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh and Head of the organizing board, Mai Vu Tuan, awarded prizes to winners.

The Organizing Committee awarded 3 first prizes to the 3 best contestants of each genre, including: Nguyen Truong Linh (chamber music); Mai Thu Huong (folk music) and Doan Hong Hanh (pop music). These contestants will be Quang Ninh’s representatives who enter to enter the national final round.
