Quang Ninh restricts waterway activities due to tropical storm No. 1
In light of the approaching tropical storm No. 1, the Quang Ninh Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense has issued Notice No. 13/BCH-VP, temporarily restricting waterway activities across the province.
According to the Quang Ninh Hydro-Meteorological Station, beginning this afternoon and evening (June 13), offshore waters, especially around Co To island district, the island communes of Van Don district, and Cai Chien and Vinh Thuc islands, are expected to see wind speeds increasing to level 6 -7, with gusts reaching level 8. Seas will become rough, with waves rising to 1-2 meters.
Coastal and nearshore areas, including Quang Yen town, Ha Long city, Ha Long bay, Cam Pha city, Bai Tu Long bay, and Van Don district, are forecast to experience winds at level 4-5, gusting up to level 6-7.
Inland areas such as Tien Yen, Dam Ha, Hai Ha, and Mong Cai may see wind levels at 3-4, occasionally reaching level 5, with gusts at level 6.
In order to ensure maritime safety, the Provincial Standing Office for Disaster Prevention and Control has requested local authorities and relevant units to review active vessels in their areas, promptly inform boat owners of the storm conditions, and guide them to take proactive sheltering measures and adjust their operations for safety.
Importantly, all marine tourism and overnight stay activities on the sea are suspended for tonight. Depending on how the storm develops, the province stands ready to issue a full maritime ban if necessary.
The Provincial Border Guard Command has been asked to direct island-based units to fire emergency flares, calling vessels back to designated shelter areas in accordance with regulations. They are also instructed to remain on alert and ready to implement any further directives from central and provincial authorities.
