Quang Ninh responds to the national requiem held for victims of COVID-19
Tribute ceremonies were held on Friday evening in Hà Nội and HCM City to commemorate 23,000 people and frontline workers who died due to COVID-19.
The events took place at the Independence Palace in HCM City and Thống Nhất Park in Hà Nội, gathering about 1,000 and 300 participants respectively.
In Quang Ninh, the Provincial Party Committee requested all levels of Party committees, local authorities, the provincial Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to organize practical and appropriate memorial activities in each locality.
The provincial People's Committee also directed relevant agencies to put off entertainment activities during the national commemoration. Quang Ninh television channels were asked to prioritize airing the event.
Therefore, various entertainment zones and restaurants decided to close in this evening. Many households gathered to see the program on the television with reverence and dignity. The websites of many newspapers changed from color to black and white on Friday in honor of the country’s COVID-19 victims.
The commemoration aims to share the pain and loss suffered by families who have lost their loved ones to the pandemic.
This is also an opportunity to promote the tradition of great solidarity and the will of the nation to overcome difficulties, adapt safely and flexibly to and effectively control the Covid-19 pandemic, and restore production and business and socio-economic development.
