Quang Ninh and VNPT inked MOU on digital transformation

A Memorandum of Understanding between Quang Ninh and the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) for accelerating the province's digital transformation in the 2021-2026 period, with a vision to 2030 was signed on Dec.21.

Prominent among those at the signing ceremony were Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Head of Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Delegation, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Chairman of the Board of Members of VNPT Group, To Dung Thai and VNPT General Director Huynh Quang Liem.

The agreement envisages cooperation on 8 strategic directions with a focus on the contruction of the province’s digital economy.

Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate in building and developing IT and telecommunications infrastructure to meet the requirements of comprehensive digital transformation in Quang Ninh province.

They will also build a specialized database for common use of the province in the form of open data for people and businesses with integrated statistical reporting and data analysis systems to serve the province’s administration and connection to the Government's Information and Reporting System.

VNPT will act as a consultant in implementing digital economy development,  participate in the projects, schemes and programs related to IT and smart cities, enhance support programs for human resource development, consult the province about implementing projects on the construction, management and operation of Data Integration Center (IDC). It will invest in the industries of information technology and communications communication industry in the province as well.

In addition, Quang Ninh and VNPT targets to pilot a comprehensive digital transformation for a district-level unit of the province and accomplish the building of platforms and applications for the development of digital government, digital economy and digital society after 12 months of implementation.
