Provincial Party Secretary launches Tet tree-planting festival in Ba Che
In response to the "Tree-growing Tet to express Gratitude to Uncle Ho" and the project on one billion tree planting approved by the Government, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Xuan Ky, launched the New Year Tree Planting Festival in Ba Che district on Sunday on the sixth day of Lunar New Year 2022.
Nearly 4,000 trees, most of which are Lim and Gioi categories, were planted at the launching ceremony. These trees belong to tall and large species which have high economic value. They are also suitable for soil and climate conditions of Ba Che district, one of the three localities with the largest forest area in the province. Currently, the forest coverage rate of Ba Che district reaches 72.2%, representing an increase of 0.2% compared to 2020.
This significant activity aimed to rasing public awareness of the important role tree planting plays in society as well as its contribution to preventing natural disasters, improving environmental quality and helping livelihoods amid global warming, climate change and sea level rise, which are billed as one of the formidable challenges to the human race in the 21st century.
Quang Ninh sets to plant at least 2,000 hectares of ironwood trees namely Lim, Gioi, and Lat this year and strives for districts with favorable forestry conditions, Ba Che for example, to plant 5,000 hectares of trees by 2025.
