Over 340,000 students attend opening ceremony for new school year
Hundred thousands of students in Quang Ninh province went back to school and attended the opening ceremony for the new academic year on September 5.
Quang Ninh has over 340,000 students and preschool children, showing an increase of more than 9,600 children compared to the previous school year. These students study at 645 schools and educational institutions, over 88% of which meet the national standards.
In order to ensure safety for students before the new school year, the authorities and schools have actively coordinated to speed up the progress of vaccination against Covid-19 for students.
According to a resolution adopted by the 14th provincial People’s Council for the 2021-2026 tenure at its 10th meeting on August 31, preschool children, high school students and students in general education programmes at public educational establishments will be exempted from tuition fees for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Addressing the ceremony at the Ha Long high school for gifted students in Ha Long city, the provincial Party Secretary, Nguyen Xuan Ky, praised the school for its efforts to attain a range of achievements in recent years. He also acknowledges and warmly commends the education sector for staying united and determined to surmount difficulties and for what it has achieved during the last academic year.
“Quang Ninh province has paid special attention to the education and training sector, especially through the investment in facilities in both central areas and disadvantaged ones and priority policies for students of ethnic minority groups and those living in the difficult circumstances in remote, border and island areas”, he said.
The provincial Party Secretary asked the education and training sector in paricular and the entire society in general to build a good culture and social standards for children to follow; and develop a learning society accessible to all children, particularly vulnerable ones.
