The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on August 15 that amid the complex situation in the South Asian country, it has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan to watch the developments closely, grasp the situation of Vietnamese people in Afghanistan and stand ready to take citizen protection measures if necessary.

Following the Foreign Ministry’s instruction, the Vietnamese Embassy has posted a notice on its website, exchanged information with its contacts in Afghanistan to seek support on the situation of Vietnamese citizens in the South Asian country.

According to the Embassy, no Vietnamese are reported to have remained in Afghanistan.

Earlier on August 3, the Embassy worked to bring a Vietnamese citizen working a UN agency in Afghanistan back home safely.

In case of needing help, Vietnamese citizens can contact the Embassy’s hotline at +9203363336868 on WhatsApp or +84936061996 on Zalo and Viber, the landline +92512655785/87, or the citizen protection call centre at +84981848484.
