Quang Ninh is redefining its travel landscape by offering international visitors a much richer spectrum of experiences. Whether you seek slow-travel retreats, exclusive culinary tours, or extended seaside stays, the city now caters to discerning travelers with diverse, high-quality options that turn a simple trip into an extraordinary stay.

Beyond its legendary scenery, a destination's enduring charm lies in the depth of its experiences. To forge deeper connections with returning global guests, Quang Ninh’s tourism sector is actively refining its offerings through weaving rich indigenous culture, maritime heritage, and local storytelling into every step of the journey.

One of the key approaches lies in curating distinctive, immersive experiences. Rather than simply sailing past familiar landmarks on Ha Long Bay, travelers can now explore the quiet waters aboard traditional wooden-framed boats (thuyền ba vách) - a gentle, unhurried way to embrace the seascape and observe daily life in floating fishing villages. This tranquil voyage seamlessly pairs with an open-top double-decker bus tour, providing guests with a dual perspective that spans both marine beauty and the vibrant urban rhythm of Ha Long.

"What touched me most was the sense of intimacy with nature and the warm connection to the local people. Though brief, the journey offered a fresh perspective on Ha Long. I was able to take in the breathtaking scenery, listen to stories of life on the water, and gain a much deeper appreciation for the local culture", said Jenifer Strait, a visitor from the United States

Anchoring its tourism narrative in authenticity, Quang Ninh goes beyond its famed coastal geography to integrate indigenous cultural assets into the travel journey. The sacred peaks of Yen Tu offer immersive encounters with traditional spiritual heritage, and Cam Pha’s theatrical production "In search of the pearl" illuminates the area's maritime legends. Further inland, the highland communities of Binh Lieu, Tien Yen, and Ba Che present a living canvas of seasonal agricultural cycles and ethnic traditions. By embedding local heritage into contemporary travel, the city fosters a sustainable tourism model that encourages deeper exploration and lasting connection.

In tandem with product innovation, Quang Ninh has transitioned from broad-spectrum promotion to targeted marketing tailored to specific market segments. The city continues to strengthen international cooperation, implementing agreements on culture, sports, and tourism with partners in Guangxi and Fujian (China), while actively cultivating broader global relationships to build a specialized, deeply connected promotion network.

Among emerging markets, India stands out as a high-potential segment, particularly for luxury travelers and high-end event, conference, and wedding tourism (MICE). India is currently ranked among the four largest source markets for international arrivals in Quang Ninh. In early September 2026, local tourism authorities hosted a dedicated famtrip for 13 directors representing top Indian travel agencies and MICE event organizers. The delegation conducted on-site surveys of premium products and services, including the Catherine Cruise, Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort, the live performance "In search of the pearl," and Vinpearl Resort & Spa Ha Long. Inviting international partners to experience these offerings firsthand not only maximizes promotional impact, but also allows local businesses to better understand market nuances and tailor their offerings accordingly.

Alongside MICE, cruise tourism remains a powerful catalyst for boosting international arrivals during the final months of the year. Backed by modern port infrastructure and seamless transport connectivity, Ha Long International Cruise Port has become a regular call for world-renowned cruise lines. The recent arrival of the mega cruise ship Adora Magic City, measuring over 323 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 135,500 GT, safely disembarked nearly 4,500 international passengers, demonstrating the city's capacity to host large-scale global tours. In the first seven months of 2026, the port welcomed 45 cruise ships, achieving 122% of the total recorded during the same period last year, with projections reaching approximately 75 calls for the full year.

For cruise travelers with limited time ashore, every moment is designed to be deeply meaningful. Specially tailored, seamless itineraries allow guests to effortlessly discover the region's rich heritage, savor authentic local gastronomy, and explore iconic landmarks like the Quang Ninh Museum and Library alongside Tuan Chau and Van Don. Most inspiring is the "Heritage Connection" route, which smoothly links Ha Long Bay with the Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape Complex, giving travelers the rare opportunity to immerse themselves in two UNESCO World Heritage sites within a single, unforgettable journey.

These strategic shifts in both product design and market reach are yielding clear results. In the first eight months of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed nearly 17.1 million visitors, including an estimated 3.6 million international guests. Heading into the autumn-winter season, the city continues to launch targeted stimulus programs, finalize the dossier for the Van Don - Co To National Tourism Area, and expand night-time economy initiatives alongside cultural industries to heighten destination appeal and extend length of stay.

Aiming to welcome 5.82 million visitors and achieve nearly 19.5 trillion VND in tourism revenue in the fourth quarter of 2026, Quang Ninh remains dedicated to tapping high-value international markets effectively. From market expansion to product renewal, from luxury MICE to world-class cruise tourism, Quang Ninh has steadily been shifting its focus from growing visitor numbers to enhancing the value of every journey, injecting fresh momentum into sustainable growth and firming its stance as a premier global destination.
