Mong Cai tourism: “A place to dream of - a place to return to”
Mong Cai City is turning its tourism vision into reality by leveraging its unique strengths and developing distinctive tourism products. With the guiding motto “A place to dream of - a place to return to,” Mong Cai continues to affirm its status as a vibrant destination for both domestic and international travelers.
According to Mr. Vu Tuan Anh, Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Mong Cai City, efforts have been underway since early this year to maintain, enhance, and innovate existing tourism offerings.
These include upgraded planning, investment attraction, and the creation of high-quality tourism products that reflect the city’s cultural identity and local character. Signature destinations such as Tran Phu Walking Street, Hai Son - Bac Son experiential tours, and beach resorts in Tra Co, Binh Ngoc, Vinh Thuc, and Vinh Trung have been continuously enriched.
The city also tightened tourism business management to ensure a clean, safe, and professional environment. A series of successful events have already taken place, including the Lunar New Year Countdown Gala, the ceremonial welcome of the first group of international tourists entering Vietnam via Mong Cai border gate, and traditional temple festivals.

In order to stay competitive during the upcoming summer peak season, Mong Cai is continuing to roll out key strategic initiatives focusing especially on developing unique, experience-rich tourism products. Highlights include: the expansion of Tra Co Beach toward Con Mang, the opening of new beaches such as Ben Hen (Vinh Trung), Dau Dong (Vinh Thuc), and Da Den (Binh Ngoc); wellness and entertainment services at Vinhomes Golden Avenue; and enhancements to Tran Phu Walking Street integrated with a vibrant local market scene. In addition, the city is reviving the one-day border tour and self-driving travel services, and developing a brand-new river cruise route along the Bac Luan Border River.
Mong Cai is also ramping up its tourism promotion campaigns and organizing tourism stimulation events such as the April 30 - May 1 holiday celebrations, the Borderland Sim Flower Festival, and a wide range of cultural, sports, and entertainment programs held across top tourist spots including Tra Co Long Beach, Sa Vi Cape, Vinhomes Golden Avenue, Vinh Trung, Vinh Thuc, and the city center.

The city is also strengthening regional linkages and tour connections, expanding its international reach, especially to the Chinese and neighboring markets, and improving overall service quality to develop sustainable year-round tourism as a key pillar of its local economy.
As many as 669,045 travellers visited Mong Cai city in the first quarter of 2025, an 8% increase year-on-year, generating more than VND 1,500 billion in tourism revenue. The city targets to welcome 4.8 million tourist arrivals in 2025.
