MoH reports 4,009 new COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed 4,009 new local infections of coronavirus on Friday morning, raising the national tally to 189,066.

The latest cases were detected in 24 localities including HCM City (2,563), Binh Duong (322), Long An (286), Tien Giang (253), Dong Nai (207), Da Nang (77), Vinh Long (63), Dong Thap (53), An Giang (47), Tra Vinh (34), Phu Yen (27), Binh Dinh (19), Kien Giang (17), Gia Lai (14), Ha Tinh (five), Dak Nong (four), Thanh Hoa (four), Bac Lieu (two), Lao Cai (two), Quang Tri (two), Lang Son (two), Hai Duong (one), and Ha Noi (one). Of these, 823 cases were detected in the community.

The national caseload includes 185,162 locally transmitted cases documented in 62 cities provinces since April 27 when the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence broke out.

Only two of the above localities have gone 14 days without community infection, namely Quang Ninh and Bac Kan.

The total recoveries were 58,040.

Among the current positive cases, 486 patients have been warded in the intensive care units, of whom 20 are in critical conditions.
