Key traffic works accomplished amid “Covid storm"

Notwithstanding various negative impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on all socio-economic aspects all around the world, Quang Ninh has done its utmost to complete several key infrastructure projects on time, significantly contributing to its two-digit economic growth in 2021.

On January 1, Quang Ninh inaugurated a new bridge, named Tinh Yeu (Love) Bridge, along with a coastal road linking the cities of Ha Long and Cam Pha. These two traffic works were implemented during the time the pandemic broke out across the world.

Under the theme of "the wings of sea birds ", the design of Love Bridge was selected by Quang Ninh after a design contest had been launched nationwide. The bridge and path have a total length of 4,265m, the main bridge is in the shape of a concrete-filled steel pipe arch with 6 lanes for motor vehicles. The total investment of the project is VND 2,109 billion.
Works on the project started at the end of April 2020 in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic with complicated developments. The investor and all of the contractors tried their best to quikly carry out all project items and ensure the project progress and quality.

To ensure the safety of more than 300 employees, all activities at the construction site were done in closed state. 3 shifts and 4 crews were maintained throughout the construction process.

After one year of construction, the bridge’s lowering items were completed. Contructors started to build 5 arches and bridge decks in April 2021.

The main girder construction of the main bridge was completed in September 2021. The concrete filled with steel arches was accomplished in October 2021. Concrete was poured to complete the closure point of the bridge on November 2.

On January 1, 2022, the project was completed and put into operation, meeting the people's expectations.

Similarly, the project of Ha Long - Cam Pha coastal road commenced at the end of 2019.

The road has a length of 18.7km. The starting point is connecting with Ha Long city’s Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road, the end point is at Cam Pha city’s Km6 Port.

During the implementation process, the project has undergone some changes such as raising the roadbed from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, adding tunnels through the mountains instead of cutting mountains to make roads in order to preserve the area's limestone mountain system on both sides of the route.

In November 2021, after 9 months of construction, the tunnel through the mountain was opened. The work was completed in December 2021.

Thanks to the province’s strive, various problems arisen durting the contruction process were effectively handled. The project was completed on progress and officially put into operation from January 1, 2022.

Works started on the project Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway, the longest expressway in the province, in the beginning of 2019. However, the construction process requires many difficult technical factors due to complicated geological conditions as well as adverse impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.  The construction site maintained safety for nearly 2,000 employees.

In early December 2021, the bridges on the route were basically completed, Van Tien bridge, the longest bridge on the route, casted closure segment after nearly a year of construction.

Currently, the contractor has focused on completing the road surface and it is expected to put into operation in mid-2022. On January 1, 2022, the whole road was opened to traffic.
