Hoang Can Temple Festival and the San Diu Sports and Culture Day to open on November 25
The festival of Hoang Can Temple and the Sports and Culture Day of San Diu ethnic group is going to be celebrated in Tien Yen district between November 25 and 26.
During the first day, the festival will include a range of conventional rituals namely offering new rice, releasing fish at Khe Cat lake, weightlifting ceremony, etc.
Participants will also take part in many exciting cultural and sports activities such as playing the “tug of war” game, pushing sticks, walking on stilts, blindfolding to catch ducks, performing arts and cultural exchanges and so forth.
There will be a number of traditional culinary competitions including making silver cake, wrapping long Chung cakes, displaying the tray of San Diu people, etc.
Official ceremonies taking place at Duc Ong Hoang Can temple on November 25 comprised the ceremony for new rice worshiping undertaken by many households in Hai Lang commune, the concession ceremony and the thanksgiving ceremony.
The event aims to not only restore and honor the traditional cultural beauty, customs, and practices of San Diu ethnic community in Tien Yen district but also build a great unity among ethnic groups.
This is also a new local tourism product which makes significant contributions to the introduction and promotion of the image of Tien Yen people.
