Hoang Can Temple Festival and the San Diu Sports and Culture Day opens
The festival of Hoang Can Temple and the Sports and Culture Day of San Diu ethnic group officially kicked off on November 6 in Tien Yen district.
During the first day, the festival included a range of conventional rituals namely offering new rice, releasing fish at Khe Cat lake, weightlifting ceremony, etc.
Participants also took part in many exciting cultural and sports activities such as playing the “tug of war” game, pushing sticks, walking on stilts, blindfolding to catch ducks, performing arts and cultural exchanges and so forth.
There were a number of traditional culinary competitions including making silver cake, wrapping long Chung cakes, displaying the tray of San Diu people. In addition, an exhibition on traditional objects and products of San Diu people in Tien Yen district drew the attention of lots of locals and tourists.
Official ceremonies taking place at Duc Ong Hoang Can temple on November 6 comprised the ceremony for new rice worshiping undertaken by many households in Hai Lang commune, the concession ceremony and the thanksgiving ceremony.
The event aims to not only restore and honor the traditional cultural beauty, customs, and practices of San Diu ethnic community in Tien Yen district but also build a great unity among ethnic groups.
This is also a new local tourism product which makes significant contributions to the introduction and promotion of the image of Tien Yen people.
