Hoang Can Temple Festival and the San Diu Sports and Culture Day opened in Tien Yen

The festival of Hoang Can Temple and the Sports and Culture Day of San Diu ethnic group was celebrated in Tien Yen district on November 26.

Local people find it delighted to attend the festival.

The festival included a range of conventional rituals namely offering new rice, releasing fish at Khe Cat lake, weightlifting ceremony, etc.

Participants also took part in many exciting cultural and sports activities such as playing the “tug of war” game, pushing sticks, walking on stilts, blindfolding to catch ducks, performing arts and cultural exchanges and so forth.

There were some traditional culinary competitions including making silver cake, wrapping long Chung cakes, displaying the tray of San Diu people, etc.

Official ceremonies taking place at Duc Ong Hoang Can temple comprised the ceremony for new rice worshiping undertaken by many households in Hai Lang commune, the concession ceremony and the thanksgiving ceremony.

The event aims to not only restore and honor the traditional cultural beauty, customs, and practices of San Diu ethnic community in Tien Yen district but also build a great unity among ethnic groups.

This is also a new local tourism product which makes significant contributions to the introduction and promotion of the image of Tien Yen people.
