Health ministry reports 2,861 new COVID-19 cases
The Ministry of Health confirmed 2,861 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday morning, bringing the national caseload to 117,121.
The latest patients comprise three imported cases and 2,858 domestic infections in 17 localities, namely HCMC (2,115), Dong Nai (134), Tay Ninh (120), Dong Thap (91), Khanh Hoa (86), Ha Noi (69), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (56), Tra Vinh (38), Ben Tre (32), Phu Yen (30), Tien Giang (30), An Giang (24), Dak Lak (13), Soc Trang (12), Can Tho (five), Binh Dinh (two), and Hai Duong (one).
Of the domestic infections, 403 cases were detected in the community.
Among the national patient tally, 114,915 are locally-transmitted cases, of which 113,345 were documented in 62 cities and provinces since April 27 when the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence began.
Six out of the above localities have gone 14 days without community infection namely Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Dien Bien, Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, and Nam DInh.
The total number of recoveries reached 22,946.
Among the current positive cases, 211 patients were admitted to intensive care units, of whom 17 are critically ill and dependent on ECMO.
